First Colony Barbeque

Last Thursday we had our annual First Colony Mortgage barbeque which is something they do every year for people who have been customers. Actually, I forgot about it until the last minute so we were a little late getting up there. When we got there they had hamburgers and hot dogs and salads and stuff. The kids had a hard time eating because they wanted to get to the toys so bad. They had a big blow up slide that the kids could climb up and slide down on, they also had a blow up maze you could go through, and most important to Jacklyn, they had jousting this year. I think she was excited about it because it was something that they hadn't had before. Her and Jayden waited patiently in line for their turn and when it got to their turn I had Micah take some pictures. It was fun to see them up there and I think they really enjoyed it too. It had been raining earlier that day and it was a little chilly outside so we ended up leaving after about an hour of playing. Fun times though. Bye.

Jacklyn's Birthday

Time to catch up on what has been going on in the last few weeks at our house. Last Wednesday was Jacklyn's birthday. I took her to the store before school and let her pick out her own birthday presents. She was being really picky about what she and wanted and kept changing her mind, so I decided to just go let her pick this year. She finally decided on this My Little Pony scooter that is remote controlled and she was pretty excited about it. I also got her some other ponies that could ride in it that she wanted. I let her pick out the cake that she wanted. She wanted this strawberry cake. I think the reason she wanted that cake the most was because it was pink. Then when Micah got off of work we had a fun birthday party for her. She really enjoyed it. She also got a ZhuZhu pet with her birthday money. They are little toy hamsters that run around and make noises like real hamsters. I thought they were kind of dumb when I saw them at the store, but Jacklyn really wanted one, and they are actually pretty cool. Jayden ended up going back and getting one with his money. I thought that was funny, so now they both have toy hamsters that interact with each other. Also, on that note, thank you everyone for the birthday money and birthday wishes. We really appreciate it. Today was the last day of school for the kids so now everybody is at home and being busy, so I need to go. Bye.

Mother's Day Weekend

Last Friday, we had a lot of fun. Jacklyn went on another field trip and this time we went to the BYU duck pond to feed the ducks. There were a bunch of baby ducks there because it is springtime and the kids loved seeing the baby ducks swim around with the mommy. After we fed the ducks, we went to the park to have a picnic and play. It was a little chilly, but I think the kids really liked being outside and just running around. This is Jacklyn's last field trip for this year. Addison and I have had a lot of fun going on them. I always feel bad because Jayden wants me to go on his field trips, but I have to take Jacklyn to school while they are gone and they won't let me bring younger siblings, so I always miss out on his stuff.

Also, I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day last weekend. Micah and I went up to Idaho to see my mom and family, and it was a lot of fun. We got to hang out with everybody, eat Mike's famous dutch oven cooking, and cruise Main Street in Amber's Grandma car. Good times. Happy Mother's Day!

Spring Slideshow

We've had a lot of exciting things going on in April, so I decided to just combine them all into one big slide show and just explain what has been going on. First, we had Easter. When we woke up in the morning there was a fresh blanket of snow. I like snow, but not in April, and not when we are planning on having an Easter egg hunt. So the Egg Hunt was canceled, and the sad part is two weeks later we still haven't done it because it's been too cold or we've been too busy. I even bought these really cool glow-in-the-dark eggs. The kids did have a lot of fun on Easter and got lots of fun things in their Easter basket. Thanks to that Easter bunny. He always puts my favortie candy in there. When I was a kid I could never figure out why the Easter bunny put those whopper eggs in my basket. I hated those eggs. Then Mom said she loved them one year, and the light came on. LOL. We did some Easter egg coloring during the week and I didn't want the kids to get dye on their clothes so I had Addison paint in his diaper. Jayden said he would be careful because he didn't want to paint Easter eggs in his underwear. Funny guy. We also had my birthday on April 6, Micah took the day off and was planning on working on the yard, but it was either snowing, blowing, or freezing, so nothing got done. We went out to McDonalds to eat for my birthday, not my number 1 choice, but at least the kids could go wild at the PlayPlace and Micah and I could sit and talk in peace. They got these really cool Happy Meals that turned into horned hats. I told the kids I wanted a picture of them in their hats for my birthday present. Jacklyn and Addison were excited and let us take pictures, but Jayden didn't want his picture with his hat. That's why he's not in the pictures. Anyway, we have been working on getting the rest of our yard grassed in, so that is our major summer project right now. I can't wait until it's done because it will be nice. Everyone have a great weekend.

Shady

Last Saturday, Shady, our cat was acting very strange. She had stopped eating her food and was very lifeless, so Micah picked her up to see what was wrong with her and she started leaking fluids out of her side. Micah thought she had been shot by somebody, so we decided to take her to the vet and see what was wrong. This was Saturday night at 11:00pm so Micah took her up to Orem because there is a vet that is open all night for emergencies. We were all very worried about Shady because we thought this was the last time we would see her and that she going to die. Micah took her to the vet and came back awhile later and told me what happened. The vet inspected her and said she had a bite wound on her side. The bite got infected because there is a space between the skin and the muscle on cats and bacteria had started growing there and now it was pussing. It's called an abscess. Yeah, it sounds really gross, and it was. So they kept her at the vet all night and put tubes in her side and gave her an antibiotic so it could heal properly. She also got the dreaded "cone of shame" on her head to keep her from picking or licking at it until it fully heals. Micah picked her up on Sunday morning and I've had her in the laundry room all week while her body finished draining all the puss and fluids out. Micah took her back on Thursday and they took her tubes out, but she still had to wear her collar, "the cone of shame," until she is completely better. I took her out of the laundry room yesterday and she plopped in front of the computer while I was working on it. I kept petting her while I was working and she was purring so loudly you could her across the room. I think she's pretty excited to be out of the laundry room and she is definitely starting to be her normal self again. We are all very excited that Shady is getting better.

Addison's Birthday

The month of March has just flown by. I was going to post these pictures a few days after Addison's birthday and now a few weeks have gone by and I'm just getting around to posting it. Anyways, he had a really fun birthday. His birthday was on Friday, but we ended up celebrating his birthday on Monday because we had a super busy weekend that week where we went to St. George for a workshop. On Monday, we went to the store and he got to pick out a cake that he really wanted, which was carrot, my favorite too. Good boy! After our family birthday party we had him open his present which was a red scooter. He absolutely loved it! Now it just needs to get warmer so he can ride it. Bye everyone!

The Bean Museum

Last Friday Jacklyn's class went on another school field trip and any of the parents that wanted to come were invited, and since Addison and I have had so much fun going on the last field trips we decided to go on this one too. Jacklyn's class went to the Bean Museum at BYU. They had tons of taxidermy animals on display. Everything from bears and bobcats to elephants and tigers. Dad would have really liked going. They also had a fish section with lots of different starfish, which I thought were really pretty. My favorite display though was the butterfly display. They had arranged tons of little butterflies in a way so that from a distance it looked like one big 6 foot butterfly. It was really neat to look at. Jacklyn liked that one too. After we got done walking around we sat down to for our presentation. We had a girl come and talk to us about animals and their eggs. Then she brought out a ball python snake, and she let the kids pet him if they wanted to. She also had a pacman frog but we couldn't touch him because we would make him sick, and lastly, she showed us Rosie, who is a tarantula. She got her name Rosie because she has pink spots on her back. The teacher said that if any of the kids wanted to hold Rosie they could hold their hands out and she would put Rosie in their hands. Jacklyn wanted to hold her really bad, so when Rosie came around Jacklyn held her and she really liked Rosie. After the presentation the kids got their school picture in front of the elephant and then it was time to go. It was a lot fun.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day weekend.
