Shady
Last Saturday, Shady, our cat was acting very strange. She had stopped eating her food and was very lifeless, so Micah picked her up to see what was wrong with her and she started leaking fluids out of her side. Micah thought she had been shot by somebody, so we decided to take her to the vet and see what was wrong. This was Saturday night at 11:00pm so Micah took her up to Orem because there is a vet that is open all night for emergencies. We were all very worried about Shady because we thought this was the last time we would see her and that she going to die. Micah took her to the vet and came back awhile later and told me what happened. The vet inspected her and said she had a bite wound on her side. The bite got infected because there is a space between the skin and the muscle on cats and bacteria had started growing there and now it was pussing. It's called an abscess. Yeah, it sounds really gross, and it was. So they kept her at the vet all night and put tubes in her side and gave her an antibiotic so it could heal properly. She also got the dreaded "cone of shame" on her head to keep her from picking or licking at it until it fully heals. Micah picked her up on Sunday morning and I've had her in the laundry room all week while her body finished draining all the puss and fluids out. Micah took her back on Thursday and they took her tubes out, but she still had to wear her collar, "the cone of shame," until she is completely better. I took her out of the laundry room yesterday and she plopped in front of the computer while I was working on it. I kept petting her while I was working and she was purring so loudly you could her across the room. I think she's pretty excited to be out of the laundry room and she is definitely starting to be her normal self again. We are all very excited that Shady is getting better.

Oh, I am so glad she is better. That doesn't sound very fun at all. It would be horrible to have to wear the "cone of shame".
